NATURAL DYES : CREATE YOUR SILK SUMMER BANDANA

Natural Dye Workshop:

Create a Silk Summer Bandana with Seasonal Botanicals

Join us for a relaxing natural dye workshop where you’ll learn how to create beautiful botanical prints on silk using plants and flowers. This hands-on class introduces the art of natural dyeing and eco printing, using seasonal floral materials to design your own unique silk summer bandana.

Set in the peaceful surroundings of Benson Community Gardens, this workshop is part of the Slow Garden Craft Series, celebrating creative skills inspired by nature.

During the session I will guide you through the process of dyeing silk using seasonal flowers, leaves, and garden plants. You’ll learn how plant pigments transfer onto fabric to create soft, organic colours and delicate botanical patterns.

Participants will work with a curated selection of fresh seasonal floral materials, including summer blooms, foliage, and garden botanicals, to create naturally dyed patterns on silk.

What you’ll learn

  • The basics of natural dyeing for textiles

  • How to prepare silk for botanical printing

  • Techniques for eco printing with flowers and leaves

  • How seasonal plants create different colours and patterns

  • Simple tips for continuing natural dyeing at home

What’s included

  • A silk bandana to dye and take home

  • A selection of seasonal flowers, leaves, and botanical materials

  • All dyeing equipment and materials

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your own hand-dyed silk summer bandana, a unique wearable piece created with plants and natural colour.
