SLOW SHADES CREATED WITH PLANTS AND PRESENCE
HI, I AM TANYA. I AM A COMMUNITY EDUCATOR, A CONTEMPORARY NATURAL DYE AND FIBRE ARTIST WEAVING TOGETHER CREATIVITY, WELLBEING and CONNECTION.
CREATING WITH NATURE
I create natural dyes and fuse them with fine natural fibres and fabrics through mindful foraging of local botanicals, using the transformative process of wet felting. Beyond handcrafted pieces, my practice is about offering calm, presence, and a deeper appreciation for nature’s rhythms.
At the heart of my work is creative wellbeing—holding space where making becomes more than craft: it becomes a way to process, to connect, and to care for ourselves and one another.
It becomes an experience in which attention gently returns to the present moment, while creativity nurtures a deeper awareness of self and a felt sense of connection to both oneself and the world around us.
THE ART OF
A QUIET CARE
I gather natural materials through mindful walks, letting the rhythms of nature and the changing seasons guide my palette and my way.
This slow, intuitive way of crafting offers a sense of calm and grounding—a therapeutic rhythm that invites presence, quiet connection, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
In the stillness of the process, creativity becomes a form of care—for both the materials and myself.
I run regular online and in-person sessions in wool felting and natural dyeing, inviting individuals and small groups to explore these sustainable processes, nurture their creativity, and experience the therapeutic joy of working with natural materials.
Linen is at the heart of what I create — a natural, breathable fibre that I love for its quiet beauty, strength and ability to soften with time. Woven from flax, it has a beautiful connection to the earth and a naturally relaxed character. I pair this timeless cloth with sustainable colours drawn from nature, using plant-based dyes and botanical pigments to create gentle, nuanced shades inspired by the changing seasons. Each colour carries its own subtle variations, allowing the natural texture of the linen to remain visible and alive.
I make slowly, take inspiration from nature, and create pieces designed to be lived with and loved for years.Watch this space for more hand-dyed, bespoke pieces coming soon, created as part of my collaboration with AiryLi Store.
